Next-gen Maruti Celerio Interior Revealed in Spy Shots, Inspired by WagonR

While the current-gen Maruti Celerio has been on roads for quite some time now, it still garners a good band of fan-followers in India month in month out, irrespective of the tough competition. To keep it fresh and competitive enough in the race, Maruti Suzuki is working on the second-gen model of the Celerio. Test mules of the new-gen Celerio have been caught on cam several times before and are expected to feature revamped styling this time. However, the latest spy images of the new-gen Celerio have just surfaced on the Internet, giving us a first look of the cabin of the new vehicle.

The new spy pics show us what would be offered inside the cabin of the new Celerio. The interior of the new-gen model is highly inspired by that of the Maruti WagonR. Although the interior of the car is camo'ed heavily, we can safely say that the dashboard layout is brand new. For the first time, the new Celerio will come with a SmartPlay touchscreen infotainment system which is compatible with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.

The centre console is completely new as well. The knobs for climate control look similar to that of the WagonR. We haven’t got a glimpse of the instrument cluster but we can expect it to be a new unit. Other prominent features on the second-gen Celerio will be a multi-function steering wheel, multi-info display, keyless entry, electrically-adjustable ORVMs, dual airbags, ABS with EBD, reverse parking sensors among many others.

Like the WagonR, the Celerio will be based on the company’s lightweight Heartect platform. It will be significantly more proportional than the previous model. Under the hood, the new-gen Maruti Celerio will get two engines options like the WagonR. There will be a 1.0-litre petrol engine and a punchier 1.2-litre K-Series petrol unit. Transmission choices for the new Celerio will include a 5-speed MT and an AMT option. Since Maruti Suzuki is betting big on CNG, the upcoming Maruti Celerio might get a similar treatment. The market launch of the new Maruti Celerio is likely to happen in early 2021.
