A set of images of undisguised Maruti Ciaz 1.5 Diesel emerged online some days ago, handing out a closer look to the upcoming vehicle.

Back in August 2018, the Indo-Japanese automobile manufacturer, Maruti Suzuki India has launched the facelifted Ciaz sedan concerning cosmetic revisions and engine upgrades. Though the new version helped the Ciaz climb up in the sale chart in the very first days, it gradually lost out to other new modern car launches and couldn’t do much to keep its position in the segment.

Despite being rumoured to come in late last month, the new Maruti Ciaz 1.5 Diesel is still in preparation for the official launch in India

While the new imminent Bharat Stage VI emission norms to fast approach India by April 2020, an updated iteration of Maruti Ciaz is in the offing to come this year. The new Ciaz prototype with a revamped 1.5-litre diesel burner has been spotted undergoing testing shortly ahead of its launch in the country. It is set to be introduced in the C-segment sedan soon, and to live up the Ciaz’s stature in the segment and all. Specifically speaking, the new Maruti Suzuki Ciaz will abandon the previous ageing 1.3-litre motor unit and refresh it by a 1.5-litre DDiS 225 four-cylinder diesel burner. The maximum power of 95 PS and 225 Nm of peak torque are confirmed to be generated. Transmission option is slated to be a 6-speed manual version. As stated many times before, the mill will be a non-SHVS engine which means that it claims a much lower fuel efficiency than the older engine variant.

However, the NVH level (noise, vibration and harshness) is all the way lower than before. That said, it enables a quieter cabin facilitating a fun-filled driving, especially in the long run when compared to the outgoing models. It should be noted that the facelifted Ciaz last year saw the presence of a 1.5-litre SHVS petrol motor mated to a 5-speed manual or a 4-speed torque converter, comes to churn out 104.7 PS of power and 138 Nm of torque. In January, Maruti Suzuki also launched the facelifted Baleno with no engine modifications in India.
