Maruti Ertiga Becomes The Best-selling MPV In India

Last month, the 2nd-gen Maruti Ertiga surpassed both the Mahindra Marazzo and the Toyota Innova Crysta. The new-gen Ertiga also received over 60,000 bookings since its launch a few months ago. The Toyota Innova Crysta is still a good seller with 6,551 units sold in December 2018. There was also a dramatic increase in Innova Crysta's bookings with at least 11,200 bookings being made last month, which was twice as much as its average bookings in the previous months. The bookings growth can be associated with the discounts that Toyota had offered for this MPV.

The Toyota Innova Crysta still managed to maintain its excellent sales last month

The Mahindra Marazzo also recorded excellent total sales in December 2018 with 3,206 units sold. Since its launch in September 2018, it has experienced stable sales of 3,000 – 4,000 units each month. New variants of the MPV will be launched this year, which would help maintain or even increase its sales.

As regards the best-seller Maruti Ertiga, the Indo-Japanese auto manufacturer has delivered 7,155 units to its dealers in India, exceeding that of both the Mahindra Marazzo and the Toyota Innova Crysta. The new-gen Ertiga has grown in its dimensions but still has a smaller weight than the previous model, thanks to the measures taken by Maruti to save the weight adopted for the HEARTECT platform. The second-gen Ertiga is replete with features and has a much more spacious cabin, a more amber boot space and more powerful engines than the outgoing model.
