The much-awaited fourth-gen Jimny (Maruti Gypsy for India) has made its official debut at the Auto Expo 2020. Launch is slated for the next two years. Check it out!

The long-anticipated fourth-gen Suzuki Jimny has been put on display at the Auto Expo 2020, in a bid to gauge customer interest and market impression about the reputable go-anywhere small off-roader.

The Suzuki Jimny displayed at the Auto Expo 2020 is a bigger version of the SUV that is available in global markets. It measures 3,480 mm long, 1,645 mm wide and 1,720 mm high along with a wheelbase of 2,250 mm and a ground clearance of 210 mm. The tiny dimensions help with the car's manoeuvrability which is especially helpful when driving down the beaten path.

In its fourth-gen avatar, the SUV sports an iconic front-fascia, rugged-looking and boxy silhouette, and a lot of bells and whistles we can expect for a proper off-roader. India is expected to welcome a different 5-door Jimny as well, given the low demand for a 3-door version in the domestic market. The timeline for that is unclear at this moment, but we'll be sure to report on it whenever there's a confirmation about it.

Powering the micro off-road SUV, Suzuki Jimny is a 1.5-litre K15B naturally-aspirated petrol mill that is good enough to churn out 102 PS of power at 6,000 rpm and 130 Nm of peak torque at 4,000 rpm. It comes coupled with a 5-speed manual gearbox or a 5-speed automatic transmission. The company’s ALLGRIP 4WD system is standard for the vehicle. Except for the AWD system, the rest of the powertrain is already available in many other Maruti Suzuki models, like the Ciaz, Ertiga, XL6, and the newly unveiled Brezza facelift and S-Cross petrol.

The interior of the Jimny is pretty basic and extremely utilitarian. Still, it gets decent equipment like AC and a touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The seats are upright and spacious, just like you'd expect in a proper SUV. These are also very comfy and supportive, which helps keep occupant comfortable on and off the road.
