Maruti S-Cross Petrol is showcased at the Auto Expo 2020. The petrol version of the mid-sized SUV will only receive its new engine and get no cosmetic updates.

Maruti Suzuki will come to the Auto Expo 2020 with full force. The largest car brand in India has showcased various new models at the motor show. One of these models is the BSVI petrol Maruti S-Cross. The new BSVI version of the S-Cross is expected to go on sales in March this year. This car will continue to retail across the Nexa showrooms.

The S Cross gets a 1.5-litre four-cylinder petrol engine which will also do duty on the new Maruti Brezza petrol. This engine is capable of making a top power of 105 PS and a maximum torque of 138 Nm, which is similar to the Brezza as well. Besides borrowing the petrol engine from the Brezza, the Maruti S-Cross petrol also shares the transmission options from the Brezza, Ciaz, Ertiga and XL6.

Maruti S-Cross’s 1.5-litre petrol engine will be mated to either a 5-speed manual or 4-speed torque converter automatic transmission. Maruti S-Cross petrol also gets the SHVS mild-hybrid system. However, this system’s use is limited to petrol-automatic version only while the manual counterpart will miss this feature.

The outgoing-model of Maruti S-Cross was powered solely by a 1.3-litre diesel engine. The Maruti S-Cross, along with other diesel models in Maruti’s line-up, has come to end since the carmaker has decided to discontinue the diesel engine across its entire portfolio.

Apart from the substantial engine updates, the S-Cross will keep the cosmetics unchanged. The latest update for the S-Cross design was given three years ago. In the following year, it is expected that, instead of getting an extensive makeover, the S-Cross might be replaced by the production version of the Futuro-e concept which is also on display at the Auto Expo 2020.

Maruti Futuro-e is gathering massive attention from the audience at the Auto Expo 2020 for its sharp and conventional-looking SUV design. It is highly expected that the Futuro-e will attract a larger market share than the current S-Cross does. With the fresh face, Maruti hopes to boost up its influence in the mid-size SUV market. To get the latest updates on the Auto Expo 2020, keep following IndianAuto.
