The automatic variant of the Maruti S-Presso, which comes equipped with an AMT, is on sale with some heavy discounts, in spite of the fact that its engine is BSVI-compliant
Maruti Suzuki India Ltd presented the highly-awaited CNG variant of the S-Presso at the Auto Expo 2020. The CNG variant of the companys Renault Kwid-adversary offers a pocket-friendly, bi-fuel engine option to those looking for ultra-low running costs. While the new model might help the company get additional buyers, the company is also offering some lucrative discounts on the Maruti S-Presso AMT models to attract new customers.
Currently, the Maruti S-Presso AMT is on sale with a cash discount of Rs 10,000, an exchange bonus of Rs 15,000 and a corporate discount of Rs 2,500. With as much as Rs 2,500 shelved off the sticker price, the effective ex-showroom cost of the small car starts at Rs 4,47,500. It is noteworthy here that most manufacturers have been offering some great discounts to clear the inventory of the BSIV-compliant vehicles. The S-Presso, however, has been on sale with a BSVI-compliant engine right from the time it first set foot in the market.
The Maruti S-Presso is powered by the company's K10 petrol engine that outputs a maximum power of 67bhp and a peak torque of 90Nm. While the small car is available with an optional AMT, the motor comes mated to a 5-speed manual transmission. The base LXI variant, which is available only with the manual transmission, offers a mileage of 21.4kpl, while the VXi and VXi+ trims, both of which are available in manual and AMT variants, offer 21.7kpl.
On the other hand, the recently unveiled CNG variant of the Maruti S-Presso offers a maximum power of 59.14 PS when run on CNG. Also, the CNG varinat will not get the AMT option. Claimed mileage figures are yet to be unveiled but we're expecting a figure of 31km/kg. Once launched, the recent revealed version will join other CNG-equipped models in the company's lineup, which include the Alto CNG, WagonR CNG, Celerio CNG, Eeco CNG and Ertiga CNG.
The Maruti S-Presso comes with a long range of standard features, including a driver and co-driver-side airbags, speed-sensitive auto door lock, ABS with EBD, speed alert system, immobilizer, seat belt reminder with buzzer, reverse parking sensors, child door lock, centre door locking, seat belt pre-tensioner with force limiter, door ajar and low fuel warning displayed on the 7-inch touchscreen infotainment unit
