1. Pros: 5 reasons why you should buy Maruti Suzuki Ciaz

1.1. Competitive Price

Maruti Ciaz starts their price at 8.19 lakh and could go up to 10.97 lakh. Compared with other cars in the same segment, Maruti Ciaz has definitely undercut its competitors. More specifically, the City’s price started at 8.77 lakh and its highest variant stands at 13.88. Hyundai Verna ranges from Rs 7.89 lakh to Rs 12.85 lakh. Even the closest-priced Volkswagen Vento is ranging from Rs 8.32 lakh to Rs 13.92 lakh. Maruti Suzuki Ciaz is the winner in the segment of premium hatchbacks in terms of affordability.

 Model Lowest price  Highest price
Maruti Suzuki Ciaz  Rs 8.19 lakh   Rs 10.97 lakh
Honda City  Rs 8.77 lakh   Rs 13.88 lakh
Hyundai Verna  Rs 7.89 lakh  Rs 12.85 lakh
Toyota Yaris  Rs 8.75 lakh   Rs 14.07 lakh
Volkswagen Vento  Rs 8.32 lakh  Rs 13.92 lakh
Skoda Rapid  Rs 8.47 lakh  Rs 13.92 lakh

1.2. Spacious interior

Maruti is among the best in class when it comes to interior space. To the rear side, the passenger could enjoy the sheer room for knee and head. Not only supplying with an ample room, Maruti Ciaz adds even more comfort with the rear adjustable headrests and rear sunshade (but only for the top variants!).

1.3. Fuel efficiency

Maruti Suzuki Ciaz has been known for its hybrid tech. On the new Ciaz, Maruti will adopt the mild-hybrid technology which could stretch the mileage of the Ciaz further. With the assistant of technologies like engine power assist, brake energy regeneration, gear-shift indicator, and idle engine start-stop, Maruti Ciaz will be tuned for better fuel efficiency. In fact, the Ciaz comes with the sky-high ARAI mileage of 28.09kmpl. In reality, the mileage of the Ciaz could reach from 2o to 22kmpl.

1.4. Well-equipped standard variants

Another good thing about the 2018 Maruti Ciaz is that it lower variants are packed with a decent list of features. The Sigma which is the baseline of the Ciaz is equipped with the following goodies:

  • Power Steering

  • Power Windows Front and Rear

  • Rear centre armrest

  • Rear seat headrest

  • Rear AC Vent

  • Power Adjustable Exterior Rear View Mirror

  • USB & Auxiliary input

  • 4-speaker sound system

  • Bluetooth Connectivity

And the best part is that low-end Ciaz gets a desirable safety offer which includes the following techs:

  • ABS with EBD

  • Rear Parking Sensor

  • Centre locking

  • Dual front bags

  • ISOFIX Child Seat Mounts

  • Keyless Entry

  • Engine Immobilizer

  • Rear seat belt with seat belt warning

With such a lavish standard offer, no wonder why the Ciaz could attract so many car buyers just months after the launch.

2. Pros:

Maruti Ciaz’s success is due to the generous offer, appealing design and the value-for-money package. However, there are still some minor downsides that you need to take into consideration as well.

Maruti Suzuki Ciaz will miss some features like six airbags and diesel-automatic combination

2.1. Dull 1.4 petrol engine

If you are aiming at the petrol Ciaz, you might have to reconsider as the 1/3-litre petrol motor of the Ciaz offers less excitement when compared to other outstanding performers of the same segment. Especially when it is out to the highway, the Ciaz will soon fall out of breath and feels quite lethargic.

2.2. No diesel automatic offer

One big miss on the Ciaz is the fact that diesel variants will not get automatic gearbox. Given that other cars in the same segment like Hyundai Verna, Volkswagen Vento and Skoda Rapid offer this engine-gearbox combination, not to mention the Honda Amaz which is going to bring in the CTV-diesel offer, Maruti Ciaz might lose out its competitiveness in this aspect.

2.3. Miss on six airbags

Nowadays, most premium hatchbacks come with the extravagant safety features. Many of them are willing to give the extra pack of six airbags for the top-spec variants, but in the Ciaz, you will only get standard dual front airbags only.

The Ciaz is a well-round car with a decent feature package at an attractive price. However, there are some minor minuses which are the lack of six airbags on offer and diesel automatic. With the 1.4-litre engine, the Ciaz might be a little bit of a disappointment due to its lack of excitement. But, generally, the Ciaz is still one of the most tempting cars in the segment of premium hatchbacks.
