Wonder how Suzuki Jimny would look like under the electric form? These rendering images will give you a rough idea of what an electric vehicle based on Suzuki Jimny would look like

Back in 2018, Suzuki Jimny made its debut in its home country. This off-road-focused SUV gained constant recognition from international fans. The Indian car enthusiasts got so excited about this vehicle. Earlier this year, Maruti has pleased the fans by showcasing the Suzuki Jimny at the Auto Expo 2020. However, Maruti has no intention to do anything more than this one-time showcase.

Suzuki Jimny is currently available with internal combustion engine only

Recently, Suzuki is offering only an internal combustion engine for the Jimny. However, seeing the increasing popularity of the electric vehicles, Aryan Hosseinalipour, an automotive digital rendering artist, has the idea of recreating the Suzuki Jimny under the electric form. According to the artist, it makes sense to have an off-road vehicle to be run by an electric powertrain. He went on explaining that the torque is important for off-road-focused SUVs and “electric powertrains deliver torque in abundance, right from the word go”, which makes the electric off-roader a worth-trying combination.

The electric Suzuki Jimny is a very potential concept

Thanks to Hosseinalipour’s imagination, we can have a look at the Suzuki Jimny under the electric form. In its digital rendering, Jimny’s boxy design is retained. Similar to the real-life model, the digital rendered Jimny gets the short overhangs which allow better approach and departure angles. Unlike the conventional Jimny, this version imagined by Hosseinalipour comes with a panoramic sunroof on the top, making the Jimny appear to be modern and upmarket. Considering that having a sunroof will limit the use of roof rails, it is unlikely that Suzuki would ever include this feature an off-roader like Jimny.

On the front end, the electric Suzuki Jimny carries forward the grille design from the existing Jimny. However, rather than being a practical part of the vehicle, the grille on this EV is simply an aesthetic element. To create a distinguished character for the electric Jimny, the artist has added circular LED DRLs, C-shaped LED lights around the grille as well as LED strips on the lower part of the bumper. The use of LED lights is expanded to the rear end with the LED taillamps.

In Hosseinalipour’s description, his digitally rendered SUV consists of a dual electric motor set-up, which can deliver a powerful performance. As his estimation, this drivetrain should deliver a top power of 190 PS and a maximum torque of 300 Nm.

In the international market, Suzuki is offering the Suzuki Jimny with a 1.5-litre K15B petrol engine. This engine churns out a top power of 102 Ps and a 130 Nm of peak torque. There are two other options for the Suzuki Jimny, including a 5-speed manual gearbox and a 4-speed torque converter automatic gearbox.
