Maruti-Suzuki Sales Drop 24% But Believes to Have Sold Over 50,000 Units In The Last Two Days of September

The festive season is the busiest time in a year for the automobile market. To simulate customers’ interest, carmakers usually introduce attractive discount offers during this period. This year, the discounts on offer are even more generous owning to the current market slowdown which has affected all car manufacturers in India. Even the biggest car brand Maruti Suzuki is affected by this downturn. In the month of september, the company's sales dropped by 24.2 per cent with just 1,22,640 units sold as compared to 1,62,290 in the same period last year. However, Maruti’s attempt to woo customers with various discount offers has met with positive responses. It is believed that in the last two days of September, Maruti Suzuki has retailed up to 50,000 units.

It is expected that within two last days of September, Maruti can sell over 50,000 units

According to some sources, on average, each Maruti Suzuki dealerships can sell around 30 to 35 units in these two days, the 29^th and 30^th of September. With over 2000 dealerships across the country, it is estimated that Maruti has easily sold over 50,000 units within the last two days. This is good news as Maruti-Suzuki saw a dip of 30 per cent in the segment of passenger vehicles within the last two months. . The introduction of new emission norms which will come in to effect from April 2020 is deemed to be one of the reasons for the market’s recession. 

Maruti Suzuki is offering great discounts on various models across its line-up

Every car brand in the market is gathering hope for the upcoming festive season when car buyers are willing to spend more money. Moreover, with attractive discount offers, it is hoped that the declining sales trend can be reversed. This month, Maruti Suzuki has offered discounts that go up to over Rs 1 lakh. In more details, its best-selling SUV Maruti Brezza is available with a maximum discount of up to INR 1 lakh. Another segment-leading model, the Maruti Dzire, also comes with a discount worth up to INR 60,000. The Maruti Swift, on the other hand, is on offer with a cash discount of INR 30,000. Discounts on the Alto and Alto K10 stand at INR 70,000. Maruti Celerio and Wagon R are available with total discounts of INR 60,000 and INR 25,000.

Besides Maruti, other car manufacturers like Hyundai India, Tata Motors, Mahindra and others are also offering great discounts for their customers this festive season.
