This year has turned out to be quite challenging for the automakers around the world in terms of sales. However, a lot of new products were launched in the market by which the carmakers could keep up with sales momentum. Talking about car sales, Maruti Swift has yet again become the highest-selling car for the year 2020. The Maruti hatchback has been among the top-selling cars in India, since its launch in 2005. The third-gen model of the car was launched in our market back in 2018 and hasn’t been updated since then, but it continues to be such a strong seller.

In its segment, Maruti Swift competes with the likes of Hyundai Grand i10 Nios and Ford Figo. It is popular among the buyers for its compact dimensions, decently-equipped cabin and aggressive price tag. According to the data published by JATO Dynamics India, the automaker has sold around 15,000 units of Swift hatchbacks every month on an average, between June 2020 to November 2020. Right now, Maruti Suzuki has grabbed 55 per cent of market share in the passenger vehicle segment. This makes Maruti Suzuki the largest automaker in India. The Korean automaker Hyundai follows up in the second position. Talking about Maruti Swift, mechanically, it derives power to form a 1.2-litre, four-pot gasoline mill, which is capable of shredding out 83 PS of peak power and 113 Nm of twisting force. The engine can be had coupled to either a 5-speed MT or a 5-speed AMT.

The engine is rated to offer an ARAI certified mileage of 21.12 kmpl. Inside, it comes loaded with features like automatic AC, a touchscreen infotainment unit with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, semi-digital instrument console, power windows, reverse parking sensors and steering mounted controls. . It is retailed at a starting price of Rs 5.69 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) for the base LXI trim and goes all the way up to Rs 8.02 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) for the top-spec ZXI Plus AMT variant.
