Maruti Swift Outsells Hyundai Grand i10 Nios And Elite i20 Put Together

Maruti Swift was the top-selling car in August 2020. The Maruti hatchback has easily outsold Hyundai Grand i10 Nios and Elite i20.

Maruti Swift is one of the most popular hatchbacks offered by the carmaker in the Indian markets. It competes with the likes of Hyundai Grand i10 Nios and Elite i20. As per recent reports, Maruti Swift was the best-selling hatchback in India last month. The carmaker sold 22,643 units of Swift in September 2020. On the other hand, Hyundai retailed 10,385 units of Grand i10 Nios and 9,852 units of Elite i20 in the Indian market last month. In term overall sales, the Maruti Swift is way more ahead than its Korean rivals.

Moreover, one can expect the sales of Hyundai Elite i20 to increase after the introduction of the new-gen model. It is likely to hit the Indian shores by the upcoming festive season. The premium hatchback has been spied a lot of times while getting tested. It is likely to derive power from three different powertrain options- 1.2-litre petrol, 1.0-litre turbo petrol and a 1.5-litre diesel engine. Transmission duties will be done by both manual and automatic gearbox options. Talking about Maruti Swift, it derives power from a 1.2-litre, four-pot gasoline mill, which puts out 82bhp of power and 113 Nm of twisting force. The engine comes paired with a 5-speed MT or a 5-speed AMT.

In terms of dimensions, the hatchback is 3,840 mm long, 1,735 mm wide, 1,530 mm tall and has a wheelbase of 2,450 mm. Inside, it comes loaded with features like steering mounted controls, a touchscreen infotainment unit with latest connectivity features, automatic AC, reverse parking sensors, powered windows, a semi-digital instrument console and much more. In terms of safety, it gets driver and passenger airbags, ABS with EBD, brake assist and seat belt warning. The hatchback is retailed at a starting price of Rs 5.19 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) for the entry-level LXi trim and goes all the way up to Rs 8.02 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) for the top-spec ZXi Plus AMT variant.
