Powering the Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series is a 4.0-litre V8 bi-turbo engine that is capable of making 730 PS of power and 800 Nm of torque. Power is put through the rear wheels via a 7-speed AMG Speedshift DCT transmission. The GT Black Series manages to accelerate from 0 – 100 kmph in 3.2 seconds and hits the top speed of up to 325 kmph.

“That was a really impressive ride. With speeds of up to almost 270 km/h in the Kesselchen section of the track or well over 300 km/h on the long Döttinger Höhe straight, the AMG GT Black Series is significantly faster than my GT3 race car. To finally drive around the Nordschleife in 6:48.047 minutes with a production road car in these track conditions is really awesome. Like my GT3 race car, the AMG GT Black Series offers a lot of adjustment possibilities, all of which enabled me to create a setup that was tailor-made for me”, said Maro Engel, the racer who achieved the record behind the wheel of the GT Black Series.

Although the Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series is ways far from the most powerful car that has lapped the Nurburgring, it’s aerodynamics and chassis dynamics should be the primary motivator for the car to claim the fastest lap.

Until now, there’s no official word from Mercedes about the introduction of the Black Series in India. Presently, the German automaker brought in the updated AMG GT R in India, which is retailed at Rs 2.48 crore. There’s also a 4-door version of the AMG GT which sources the power from a 639 HP 4.0-litre V8 engine and is decently-priced from Rs 2.42 crore in India.
