Mercedes-Benz India has updated the C-Class sedan with a plethora of new standard equipment and features on select trims. Prices have also increased.

Mercedes-Benz C-Class had just received a facelift last year, and it seems like the company hasn’t decided to rest. With the launch of the new BMW 3-series, Mercedes has decided to give another update to the C-class. The ‘C300d AMG Line’ and ‘C220d Progressive’ now get better standard equipment than the previous model, which now brings these Indian spec models closer to the International versions.

To list the changes, both the trims now get a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, wireless charging, and a new 9-speaker Midline sound system. The ‘C220d progressive’ now also includes memory function for front seats, which can save up to three seating positions. This feature was already available in the ‘C300d AMG Line’, which now gets optional 18-inch AMG wheels, and an optional ‘Night Package’, which adds black highlights to the exterior and lends it a sporty character.

The engines remain unchanged on both the models. The C 220d Progressive gets a 2.0-litre inline-4 turbo-diesel engine that churns out 194 Bhp and 400 Nm. The C 300d AMG Line gets the same engine but in a higher state of tune, producing 245 Bhp and 500 Nm. The only transmission available is a 9-speed ‘9G-Tronic’ automatic gearbox.

With better equipment onboard, prices have also been hiked. The C 220d Progressive and C 300d AMG Line now cost ₹46.50 lakh and ₹49.50 lakh respectively (ex-showroom). This amounts to an increase of ₹2.25 lakh for the C220d Progressive and ₹1 lakh for the C300d AMG Line. The new Mercedes Benz C Class competes with BMW 3 Series, Audi A4 and Jaguar XE.
