Mercedes-Benz EQV concept will be the fifth EV in the German’s product line-up, and the production version is due to arrive by 2022.

Before going into the mass-production, the concept car of this electric MPV will be displayed at one of the biggest auto show of the international automobile industry, Geneva motor show, along with other highly anticipated concept models. This year’s show will take off on March 17.

At the launch V-Class MVP recently, Mercedes-Benz has made an official confirmation on the upcoming of the EQV Concept car. The carmaker also cleared one thing: their upcoming all-electric concept models is a ’near-series’ and will sharply reflect the future mass-produced version. Revealed by Wilfried Porth, member of Mercedes-Benz Vans’s Board of Directors, the EQV will be the company’s “next big statement”, and it will continue redefining their V-class range.

Mercedes-Benz EQV MPV will be the fifth vehicle to go into the EQ range of EVs. The latest electric vehicle to be introduced under the EQ badge is the EQC SUV which was launched last year. Following the EQC, other three vehicles, namely EQA, EQB and EQS will arrive in no time. These upcoming models, respectively, will venture into the segment of hatchbacks, compact SUVs and sedans. Along with the EQV, all of them are confirmed to go into production by 2022.

Mercedes-Benz Vans will be responsible for the manufacturing of the electric MVP. Before the EQV, this division has offered the eVito and the soon-to-be-launched eSpinter. At the moment, they have the eVito on sale. This model takes up the norm look from the conventional vans and conveniently serves as an urban goods-carrying vehicle. Powered by three lithium-ion batteries, the van can put out  115bhp and 300Nm.

It is expected that the new EQV will not appear as a distinctive EV build; instead, it is more likely to be inspired by the recent V-Class and Vito’s architecture. Hence, EQV will have an impressive output of power and range that outdoes the current eVito.

The recently-launched V-Class, which will inspire the upcoming EQV concept, is available in three versions that prioritise either premiumness or high seating capacity. These configuration options are likely to make it to the EQV. The EQV could be alternated into even more options thanks to its flexible under-floor-battery architecture.
