Mercedes-Benz India has recently announced the sales unit in the stage from January to September this year to be decreased slightly.

A few days ago, Mercedez unveiled their sales figures, now Mercedes-Benz India, largest-selling luxury carmaker also announces their sales figures as well. As per the report, in the phase of January to September, the automaker has rolled out 11,789 cars which are 0.7 percent lower than 11,869 sales unit at the same time in 2017.

Especially, the volumes in the third quarter this year from July to September even declined significantly estimated around 20 percent. The sales units counted is 3,728 units, much lower than the number of 4,689 units in 2017. This is reported to be one of the biggest sales decline of the company in recent years.

The decline in terms of volume puts the largest luxury car maker in India under pressure. This decrease is said to arise from the depreciation of the rupee, the rising interest rates and the rising import costs weighed on volumes.

The Mercedez models have witnessed a price hike as a result from the previously stated factors. Hence, the automaker is in the effort to continue to maintain the significant top position in India’s luxury car segment.

Of all the sales unit of Mercedez in the first nine months this year, the wheel-base E-class, SUVs and C-Class sedan are the main distributors.

Commenting about this decline, Michael Jopp, the vice president of Sales and Marketing of Mercedes-Benz India said in a company statement,

“We are satisfied with our sales performance despite experiencing the prevailing micro-economic headwinds and also a high base of 2017, which was a result of the strong built up to the GST roll-out and also the onset of an earlier festive season, posing stiff sales challenges,”

As estimated so far, Mercedez has launched up to 10 models in inbound Indian market which includes the all-new G63 AMG and the recent C-class facelift.
