The Mercedes EQC will come to India in a few weeks and become the first all-electric SUV in the country.
The Mercedes EQC was unveiled in September 2018 and expected to be launched in India by end-2019. Nevertheless, the German luxury automaker could not launch the electric SUV at that time. After that, a showcase was held in January to announce that the launch of the SUV would take place in April. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the launch has been further delayed to a later time.
The Mercedes EQC will be launched in India in the foreseeable future.
The Mercedes EQC is a pure electric version of the Mercedes GLC. It will be offered with only one variant: 400 4MATIC. Two electric motors in the front and rear axles drive the wheels, giving the SUV the driving features of an all-wheel driving system. These two motors deliver 300 kW (408 PS) against 765 Nm. The SUV can accelerate from a standstill to 100 kmph in 5.1 seconds and it is able to reach a maximum speed of 180 kmph.
The Mercedes EQC will become the first luxury pure-electric in India.
A 652-kilogram 80 kWh Lithium battery package can offer a driving range of 376 - 417 kilometres as per WLTP. Noteworthily, WLTP has a tendency to give a shorter range than the NEDC; however, the former is a more realistic one. Previously, as per NEDC, the range of the electric SUV was reported to stand at 445 - 471 kilometres per charge. Refer to the table below for a detailed representation of the charging time of the Mercedes EQC with several types of chargers.
Max external charging power
Max internal charging power
Charging time (10-100% SOC) with 2.3 kW household socket (10-100% SOC)
Charging time (10-100% SOC) with 7.4 kW AC charger
Charging time (10-80% SOC) with 110 kW DC charger
