The all-new MG Astor is expected to launch before the festive season. It will rub shoulders with the likes of Hyundai Creta, Nissan Kicks and Kia Seltos. Mechanically, it will get propelled by a 1.5-litre, four-pot NA petrol unit and a 1.3-litre turbocharged gasoline mill. The former develops 120bhp of power and 150 Nm of torque, while the latter is capable of shredding out power and torque outputs of 163bhp and 230 Nm. Transmission duties will be done by a manual and an automatic gearbox. The turbocharged trim of Astor will be slightly more potent than the 1.4-litre turbocharged petrol engine offered with Hyundai Creta.

In terms of dimensions, the MG Astor will be 4,314 mm long, 1,809 mm wide, 1,644 mm tall and has a wheelbase of 2,585 mm. The SUV stands 250mm above the ground. It gets some smart-looking styling elements like a prominent hexagonal front grille, new alloy, aggressive headlights with LED DRLs and a new bumper. The cabin of the car will come equipped with features like a large 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment unit with the latest smartphone connectivity options, 360-degree camera, MG iSmart connected car technology, automatic AC, panoramic sunroof, cruise control and an electrically adjustable driver’s seat. It will sit below MG Hector in the automaker’s stable.
