MG eZS Electric SUV Showcased At BIMS

MG Motor is set to launch their first vehicle in India, the Hector, in mid-2019. The premium SUV will join the most vibrating segment in the market, SUVs, and take on the likes of Hyundai Creta, Tata Harrier, and Jeep Compass. Beyond their first launch, MG Motor is also aiming at furthering their range with another model, which is confirmed to be the MG eZS electric SUV.

After entering a crowded land of regular SUV, MG will take the next step into the recently less popular segment of EV SUV. That’s said, this particular segment is predicted to heat up quickly with various carmakers eyeing on this highly potential space. MG Motors’ second vehicle will the first premium EV SUV in the India market. Previously, it is expected that this SUV will be introduced next year but the recent report suggests that the India-spec version might be arrived sooner, possibly at the end of 2019.

First globally debuting at the 2018 Guangzhou Motor Show, the MG eZS came with everything on point. At the moment, MG Motor has brought this model to the Bangkok International Motor Show before it hits the Asian markets.

The electric SUV is built on the regular ZS. Therefore, the eZS inherits various traits from the exterior and interior. But the electric version's powertrain will distinctively different. It will be imported via the CBU route. MG Motors will consider the initial market response to decide to start localizing this model or not. The localization of the eZS will be done at Halol-based plant.

This electric SUV promises the range of around 350km on one charge. On different markets, the range number might vary. It is still unknown the exact range that the India-spec eZS will offer.
