MG eZS Spotted Testing On Indian Roads For The First Time

Late in 2018, the British auto manufacturer announced their intention of launching its second product after the Hector, which will be an electric SUV in India. Accordingly, last month, MG Motor confirmed that the eZS, the company’s first all-electric SUV, will come to Indian shores by December 2019. But before that, a camouflaged test mule of the zero-emission vehicle has been spied testing in India for the first time ever.

Recently, the MG eZS was spied in India for the first time ever. It will be the second MG-branded vehicle in India, after the Hector.

For your information, the eZS is the electrified version of the conventional IEC-powered ZS SUV. The EV first made its official debut at the 2018 Guangzhou Motor Show in November 2018. The production model in the Chinese market almost resembles the regular ZS SUV. The only minor differences include unique blue paint shade, the charging port under the grille, the exclusive five-spoke alloy wheels, and an eZS badge in the exterior.

As regards the interior, it is replete with a touchscreen infotainment setup and a wide panoramic sunroof. The India-bound eZS has been confirmed to be equipped with MG’s iSmart Next-Gen technology. The China-spec MG eZS comes with an electric motor with a maximum power of 150 hp. This enables the vehicle to accelerate from 0 – 50 kmph in just 3.1 seconds. The SUV is also claimed to have a travel range of up to 335 km per charge. However, whether the India-bound MG eZS still maintains the same powertrain once it is launched here is still open to question. The MG eZS will be brought to India via CBU route.

Whether the India-spec will borrow the powertrain from its Chinese counterpart still remains unknown.

Talking about the MG Hector, the first-ever MG car for India, the British carmaker has just revealed the SUV prior to its launch next month. With its attractive appearance, a modern cabin and multiple engine options, the MG Hector is expected to be the first big hit from the British automaker in India.
