MG Hector Ambulance Donated to Vadodara Authorities

100 units of ambulance version of the MG Hector based on the Super variant has been donated by MG Motors India to the authorities in Vadodara, Gujrat.

A few days go, MG Motor India announced that the brand will be donating a total of 100 Hectors to the government in a bid to help the frontline workers during this crisis. The promised ambulances were finally delivered a few days ago and here, we have first pictures of the special model. The car has been developed at MG’s manufacturing facility in Halol in collaboration with Ahmedabad-based Natraj Motor Body Builders. The carmaker was able to transform a regular Hector into an ambulance in just 10 days.

The ambulance version of the Hector is based on the Super variant. The regular MG Hector is offered in four variants, namely Style, Super, Smart, and Sharp. The Super trim stands at the lower end of the hierarchy. However, it is not the entry-level variant of the car. It comes equipped with essentials like the 10-inch infotainment screen, 17-inch alloy wheels, power steering, automatic climate control, central locking, power-adjustable ORVMs, ABS, dual-front airbags, ESP, and more

The car has been modified to fit in a lot more stuff that makes it compatible with the ambulance standards, such as:

  1. Imported auto-loading stretcher.
  2. Oxygen system with a cylinder.
  3. Jump seat for attendant - reused rear seat to save cost.
  4. Fire extinguisher.
  5. Medicine Cabinet with 5 parameter Monitor.
  6. Internal lighting and top light bar with siren and amplifier.
  7. Inverter with battery and sockets.
  8. Medical equipment.

However, the powertrain has been kept as is. However, MG has not confirmed the engine this Hector ambulance sources its power from. The market version of the MG Hector is offered with 2 engine options – 1.5L petrol and 2.0L diesel. The petrol motor is a turbocharged unit that belts out a peak power output of 141 BHP and a max. torque of 250 Nm, and is available with a 6-speed MT and a 6-speed DCT options. The FCA-sourced diesel, on the other hand, is capable of whipping out a maximum power of 169 BHP and a twisting force of 350 Nm. It comes mated to a 6-speed stick shift only. The option of an automatic is only limited to the petrol power plant.
