MG Hector Achieves 50,000 Bookings Milestone

MG Hector has bagged 50,000 bookings in 8 months since its launch in India, with over 20,000 units already delivered to the customers in the same period

MG Motor made its debut with Hector in the Indian market in June last year. Just after its launch, the C-segment SUV gained a lot of popularity among the potential Indian buyers. The number of reasons behind the popularity of the MG Hector is connectivity feature, spacious interior and wide range of variants.

he Chinese-origin carmaker has recently surpassed 50,000 bookings mark in last 8 months. Since its launch in India, the carmaker has already retailed around 20,000 units of Hector in India. In the first 20 days, MG received around 10,000 bookings and 21,000 orders within 45 days of bookings. The demand for the SUV got so high, that MG has to temporarily halt the bookings of Hector for several months. The car manufacturer retailed around 1508 cars in the first month, and October 2019 was quite fruitful for MG because they managed to sell around 3,536 units of the SUV. 

Gaurav Gupta, Chief Commercial Officer, MG Motor India comments: "The HECTOR continues its' strong momentum in the Indian market, crossing the 50,000 marks in terms of bookings received in just 8 months since its launch. We continue to accelerate this momentum by opening new brand outlets closer to our prospective customers in tier-I and tier-II cities. With plans to launch the Hector Plus 6-seater family version in Q3 2020, we aim to further strengthen the Hector brand in India."

Mechanically, MG Hector is powered by a 1.5-litre petrol/mild-hybrid petrol mill, which churns out 141 bhp of power and 250 Nm of peak torque. The C-segment SUV also features a 2.0-litre, oil-burner that produces power and torque outputs of 168 bhp and 350 Nm. The transmission duties are performed by a 6-speed MT and DCT automatic gearbox. The SUV comes loaded with features like a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, projector headlamps, panoramic sunroof, dual-tone alloy wheels, fully-digital instrument cluster and much more.
