MG Hector Launch To Take Place On June 27, 2019

The launch of the MG Hector, the Chinese-owned British marque's first product in India, is slated to take place on the 27th of this month. The new model will rival the likes of Jeep Compass, Mahindra XUV300 and Tata Harrier

The launch of MG’s first SUV, the MG Hector is just a while away. In the latest movement, MG Motor has already revealed that the launch advent of the Hector will take place on the 27th of this month. The MG Hector had its local debut on May 15 while the pre-bookings and the dealer-level test drives were kicked off earlier this month.

The MG Hector will officially go on sale in India from June 27, prices will be announced at launch.

On gearing up for its operation in India, the Chinese-owned British-branded MG Motor has inaugurated its first flagship showroom based out in Gurugram recently. The automaker has plans to scale up the number of dealerships from 120 to 250 in the next few months.

Marketed as the first “Internet car in India”, the MG Hector strongly impressed the show-goers during the course of its unveiling thanks to 50+ connectivity features to be offered. The all-new C-SUV boasts the largest-in-segment tablet-like 10.4-inch HD infotainment touchscreen, 360-degree camera view, front and rear parking sensors, 4-way electrically adjustable front seats, 8-colour ambient lighting along with Infinity sound system among others.

With a wide range of bells and whistles, the MG Hector is marketed as the first-ever Internet SUV for India.

Powering the new Hector is a 143 HP 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine supported by a 48-volt mild-hybrid system, along with a 170 HP 2.0-litre oil unit. The mild-hybrid system is claimed to be more fuel efficient than the regular petrol version by 12 per cent and churns out an additional torque of 20 Nm at low speeds. Transmission choices include a 6-speed MT (for both mills) along with a 6-speed DCT automatic unit (for the diesel option).

The estimated prices of the new Hector is at around Rs 15-20 Lakh (ex-showroom, India).

The fuel mileage rating will be at 14.16 kmpl (for the petrol MT), 15.81 kmpl (for the petrol MT hybrid), 13.96 kmpl (for the petrol AT) and 17.41 kmpl (for the diesel MT variant). Some MG’s dealers have disclosed that the petrol hybrid variant has been attracting the largest band of fan-followers, followed by the diesel model. Whereas, the petrol AT variant is also a highly sought-after option with a decent number of pre-bookings registered in cities like Delhi and Mumbai.

The all-new MG Hector might come in the price range of Rs 15-20 Lakh (ex-showroom) and rival the likes of Tata Harrier, Mahindra XUV500, Jeep Compass, etc. The company’s second product for India is the MG eZS electric which is set to make its entry at a later stage.
