MG Hector Launched In India At Rs 12.18 Lakh

The Tata Harrier-rivalling MG Hector has been launched in India at the price starting from Rs 12.18 Lakh (ex-showroom, India) for the base Style petrol-MT variant.

MG Motors has finally started its innings in India with the introduction of the MG Hector which just went on sale at the price of Rs 12.18 Lakh (ex-showroom, India). Coming as one of the most awaited launches of the year, the all-new Hector is available in four trims, namely Style, Super, Smart, Sharp with three engine-transmission combinations.

MG Motor (Morris Garages) has just brought the Hector on sale in India at the introductory price of Rs 12.18 Lakh (ex-showroom).

Indeed, given the lengthy list of premium features and attractive engine-gearbox lineup on offer, MG’s first product for India, the Hector has been priced really aggressively. The “Internet SUV” boasts 50 plus high-end connected applications which comprises 19 segment-first features including a large 10.4-inch HD iSmart infotainment touchscreen compatible with AI-powered voice commands, Apple, Android, pre-loaded applications and an Airtel eSIM card, 8-colour ambient lighting, 360-degree camera view, front/rear parking sensors, 4-way power-adjustable front passenger seat, Infinity sound system, big panoramic sunroof, auto headlamps, rain sensing wipers among others.

The all-new Hector is available with a long equipment list, out of which 19 features are first-in-the-segment.

The MG Hector draws the power from two engine options- an FCA-sourced 2.0-litre diesel motor outputting 170 HP/ 350 Nm along with a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine making 143 HP/ 250 Nm of torque. Both engines are available with a 6-speed MT as standard while there’s an option of a 6-speed automatic DCT for the turbo-petrol variant. Other than that, there’s also a 48-volt mild-hybrid system available for the petrol-MT model, which is said to be comparatively more efficient than the standard version by 12 per cent. The ARAI-rated fuel mileage of the Hector stands at 13.96 kmpl for the petrol DCT, 14.16 kmpl for the petrol-MT, 15.81 kmpl for the petrol mild-hybrid and 17.41 kmpl for the diesel configuration.

The MG Hector is available with two engine options along with a class-leading 48V mild-hybrid system.

The new MG SUV will be sold via MG dealers throughout the nation. MG Motor has also revealed four maintenance schemes for the all-new Hector stretching out to 5 years including Classic, Classic 360, Premium with Premium 360, price starting from Rs 8,000. However, it's also worth noting that these plans will come in handy for privately registered vehicles only. Particularly, the British brand introduces a 5-year/ unlimited km warranty scheme alongside a 5-year/ unlimited km roadside assistance package for the new MG car as standard.

At the price range of INR 12.18- 16.88 Lakh (ex-showroom), the MG Hector is now positioned very competitively in the segment since it’s following hard on the Tata Harrier and Mahindra XUV500’s heels. It even totally undercuts the like of Jeep Compass which is currently priced at around INR 15.60-26.80 Lakh. Soon enough, the MG Hector will find a new rivalry from the upcoming Kia Seltos once it’s launched in the country.
