MG Hector Plus (6-seater Hector) Spied At Dealership Ahead Of Its Launch

MG Motor India has restarted its India operations by not only delivering the pending orders but also by getting the new Hector Plus ready for launch next month. The 6-seater SUV was first showcased by the carmaker at the 2020 Auto Expo earlier this year, and the extended SUV has been recently spotted at a dealership. The automaker teased the longer trim of the Hector a few days ago. MG initiated production of the new model at its Halol facility earlier this month, and the new model was even snapped in the UK during its TVC shoot. Initially, the new SUV will be offered in a 6-seater version, but reports suggest that the 7-seater trim of the SUV will be introduced at a later stage.

Other than the addition of a new row, the new MG Hector Plus also features a revised front fascia with new LED headlamps, redesigned auxiliary lamps, revised radiator grille and a restyled bumper. The profile is quite identical to that of the 5-seater trim, and the additional length of 65 mm can be hardly noticed because the wheelbase of the car remaining the same.

The rear profile of the car gets Hector-like taillights that, unlike the donor model, aren't connected via a red reflector strip. Moreover, the rear bumper and diffuser have also been redesigned. Inside, the SUV will be very similar to that of the 5-seater model, but one could expect the upholstery options to be a bit different.

The Hector Plus spied at the dealership features brown leather seats. The new model will also get a gesture recognition system for the tailgate opening and closing. The technical specs of the car are still undercover.  Right now, the SUV is expected to borrow the powertrain lineup from the regular Hector. The ongoing 5-seater MG Hector is powered by a 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine or a 2.0-litre oil burner. The former puts out power and torque outputs of 143 PS and 250 Nm, while the latter churns out 170bhp and 350 Nm of torque. Transmission duties are done by a 6-speed MT or an optional DCT.
