The MG Hector is expected to be introduced to the Indian auto market in May 2019. Once launched, it is likely to be priced in the range of INR 13 lakh for the base variant to INR 16 lakh for the top variant.

As regards the exterior design, despite taking many of the design cues from the Baojun 530, some soft parts and panels give the MG Hector a unique identity. To be more specific, in the front, you can realize a chrome upper grille, a two-layer lighting system, a sporty bumper and a faux skid plate. Some of the most outstanding features of the side profile will consist of roof rails, machined alloy wheels and chrome elements on the beltline. The rear will remind us of the Audi Q5 with wrap-around taillights and a similar boot lid.

The MG Hector is based on the Bajun 530 but features a unique appearance with some new features

Inside the cabin of the MG Hector is a wide array of segment-leading features which include a 10.4-inch portrait touchscreen infotainment setup, which is expected to be the largest unit in its segment and also supports cutting-edge connectivity features. Other prominent interior features involve a 7-inch MID, power-adjustable seats, Infinity audio system sourced from Harman with four speakers, a subwoofer, four tweeters and a panoramic sunroof. The connectivity technologies allow various kinds of information to be available to both the driver and the co-passengers such as the parking space, toll tax fees, the occupants’ health status, etc.

The MG Hector keeps under its hood a 1.5L turbo petrol motor and an FCA-sourced 2.0L turbo diesel unit. While the former can churn out a maximum power of 143 hp and a peak torque of 250 Nm, the latter is good for 173 hp against 350 Nm. The transmission duties on the former are undertaken by either a 6-speed MT or a DCT gearbox. However, the diesel unit is mated to only a 6-speed MT gearbox but has been claimed to come with a 6-speed AT unit later.
