A rebadged and renamed version of Maxus D90 is set to enter India in 2020. It will rival the likes of Toyota Fortuner, Ford Endeavour, Mahindra Alturas G4, etc.

MG Motor India has what we could call a “successful start” in India with the MG Hector then the MG ZS EV. Following the fully-electric SUV, there are two more vehicles in the pipeline, six-seater version of the Hector and the rebadged Maxus D90 SUV. These cars are expected to have their debut at the upcoming 2020 Auto Expo held in February of the coming year.

While the MG Hector 6 seater car will rival models like next-gen Mahindra XUV500 or Tata Gravitas, the Maxus D90 will be a contender to the likes of Mahindra Alturas G4, Toyota Fortuner, Ford Endeavour, and Isuzu D-Max V-Cross

The D90 is the flagship SUV of the SAIC-owned Chinese auto brand, Maxus. It will be rebadged as an MG full-sized 7 seater SUV and get some cosmetic changes before entering the Indian market. The D90 SUV measures 5,005 mm in length, 1,932 mm in width, 1,875 mm in height along with the wheelbase of 2,950 mm, and the ground clearance of 210 mm.

The MG D90 might be equipped with a lot of premium features, like a massive 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, an 8-inch multi-information display, adaptive LED headlamps with daytime running lamps, leather upholstery, panoramic sunroof, power front seats among other. The expected suite of safety features includes six airbags, tyre pressure monitoring system, electronic stability programme, hill-hold control, hill-descent control, 360 camera view, etc.

Just like the international-spec SUV, the India-spec D90 might use a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine making 224 PS of power. This mill might come mated to a 6-speed manual transmission as standard and 6-speed automatic transmission as an option. Being one of the upcoming cars at the 2020 Auto Expo, the market launch of the D90 could take place toward the year-end of 2020.
