Due to the limited production capability and increasing demand, MG has to halt receiving bookings for the MG Hector.

MG Motor India launched its first-ever product, the MG Hector, last month. Within 20 days of the SUV's official launch, bookings have crossed the 21,000 mark. Today, however, the Chinese-owned British carmaker has confirmed that bookings for Hector will be put on hold from midnight of 19 July. It is understandable because the current manufacturing facility of MG in India only has the production capacity of around 2,000 units per month. Unable to meet the increasing demand for this hot-selling car, MG Motor has decided to freeze bookings for MG Hector temporarily. As of now, it is not known how long the hiatus of the MG Hector would last.

MG Motor India has suspended the bookings for the Hector

In its latest statement, MG Motor announced that they would stop receiving bookings for MG Hector citing their ‘commitment to customer satisfaction’ as a major reason for the closure of the order book. The carmaker also promised to accelerate the production capacity expansion in the upcoming months to meet the escalating demand. In MG’s plan, the production capacity of Halol-based facility will grow from only 2,000 to 3,000 units by October this year. At the moment, MG Motor has over 120 touchpoints across India. MG has a plan to raise the number to 250 outlets in the coming months. Booking could be made through their touchpoint network or via MG’s official website.

Speaking on the development, Rajeev Chaba, President & MD, MG Motor India said,

“We are therefore closing bookings temporarily as this will help ensure timely and orderly deliveries for our customers who have shown tremendous confidence in MG. We are also working with our component suppliers to ramp up production in a gradual manner without any compromise on quality.”
