MG Motor to Open First Showroom In India In May 2019

MG Motor India will open its first showroom in India in Chandigarh. The dealership will be located in Elante mall, one of the busiest spots in the city. Following the establishment of the Chandigarh showroom, MG will proceed toward opening branches in other cities like Jalandhar, Ludhiana and Amritsar. MG’s showroom locations also reveal their geographical targeted area. P Balendran, Executive Director of MG Motor India has revealed:

“Chandigarh is among our top target markets and forms a crucial part of our 10-city tour across India where we are displaying MG Motor's global vehicles to demonstrate our product technology, quality and features till February.”

He also added, “In Punjab, which forms nearly 2 per cent of the country's passenger vehicle market, we aim to be a sizeable player in the premium SUV segment.”

MG Motor will open its first showroom in Chandigarh

Right now, besides spreading its dealership network, MG India is focussed on launching the first vehicle, the Hector. This SUV is based on the China-spec Baojun 530. For the India market, the Hector has been given some minor changes, like a redesigned grille. Two engines available on the new Hector are 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol and 2.0-litre turbocharged diesel. These are promised to offer segment-leading power outputs. On top of that, the Hector will come with some first-in-the-segment features, like a panoramic sunroof and a full-view parking camera.

MG Hector will be launched in mid-2019

The manufacturing will be done at MG Motor India’s plan in Halol. This facility was acquired from GM back in 2017. MG Hector will go on sale in mid-2019.
