According to a press release, Michael Schumacher, the German Formula 1 legend is not bedridden any more and will be shifted to a clinic in Dallas, Texas for brain injuries treatment.

Due to a terrible skiing accident, Formula 1 legend Michael Schumacher was left bedridden in 2013. Since then, he has been closely taken care of by his family and friends. After years of worry, eventually fans of the iconic Formula 1 driver have received good news: Schumacher is reported to be "not bedridden or surviving on tubes" any more. Instead, the Mercedes, Ferrari and Benetton driver has been relocated to a clinic in Dallas, Texas for brain injuries treatment. It is Michael’s 50th birthday on January 3, 2019.

Michael Schumacher was severely injured when he was skiing with his son in the French Alps and crashed his head into a rock. He could have died if at that time if he had not been wearing a helmet. The F1 driver had been very secretive about his private life, which partially explains why his family has not revealed much about his conditions after the accident.

After the accident, Michael went over two operations at the University of Grenoble Hospital. He remained there for five months before being moved to the University Hospital in Lausanne and then to his home in Gland near Lake Geneva in Switzerland. The world champion is believed to be shifted to Dallas for brain wounds treatment. The Schumacher family owns land in Texas, so it is reasonable for his family to locate there for the convenience of his recovery.

A close friend of the family, the German Archbishop Georg Ganswein, said that Michael Schumacher “senses that loving people are around him”. This is one of the motivations for him to make such a quick recovery. In a visit to Michael’s house in 2016, Georg Ganswein realized that despite having a little bit fuller face, the F1 driver still looks almost the same as when he was last seen by the public.

What comes as good news for the F1 champion is that his son, Mick Schumacher, has been well on his way to become a professional F1 driver, having reached the F2 title with Prema Racing in 2018 and making a debut in F2 in 2019. The Formula 1 legend has experienced a narrow escape. Let’s wish for him to make a complete recovery soon and return to the race in the near future.
