Near-production Tata 45X which will make its first debut at 2019 Geneva Motor Show has been spotted during the road tests recently.

As the second model in the company’s products lineup apart from the production-ready Tata Harrier to underpin the latest IMPACT 2.0 design language, the near-production form of the 45X concept could also be referred as the Tata X451 that will come under the spotlight at 2019 Geneva Motor Show next month.

As per the latest spy shots, the new Tata model will carry a significantly smaller dimension than the concept car unveiled earlier at the Auto Expo 2018. The production version of the premium hatchback will not come with a set of 20-inch alloy wheels, sleek headlamps, grille-less front fascia and some other eccentric details. The car, on the other hand, will retain the overall design theme and carry on the rising beltline and roof line as in the concept stage. A set of 4x2 alloy wheels along with C-pillar-mounted rear door handles, rear bumper with licence plate are in the stocks to come in the new version. Moving to the inside, the all-new Tata 45X will feature a floating-type touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay supports, T-shaped centre console, multifunction steering wheel and automatic air-conditioner fitment.

The production-spec Tata X451 or Tata 45X will derive the power output from a new 1.2-litre naturally-aspirated 3-cylinder gasoline engine packed with a mild-hybrid powertrain option. The mill will more likely to pair with a manual gearbox or a dual-clutch automatic transmission as an option. Besides, a BSIV-compliant 1.5-litre diesel burner is also expected to be provided under the car’s hood.

The production-ready Tata 45X is highly anticipated to go on sale in India during the festive season of 2019. Once launched, the Tata 45X will be the fierce contender of the facelifted Maruti Baleno, Hyundai Elite i20 and Honda Jazz in the market. An all-electric version of the 45X will be showcased at a later stage while the production format will be released sometime in 2021.
