New-Gen BMW X1 Spied Testing For The First Time Along With Production-ready iX3

The new-gen BMW X1 has been recently spied on test with the production-spec iX3 electric SUV. The all-new model will carry new look, features and powertrain options.

The first set of spy pictures of the next-gen BMW X1 have emerged online. However, this time around, the test mule of iX3 electric SUV was also accompanying the new-gen X1. The all-new X1 is expected to debut globally by next year. Recently, the automaker has launched the mid-life facelift of the SUV. The new-gen model is expected to receive styling cues from the bigger SUVs in the carmaker’s stable like X5 and X7. In these spy pictures, the car seems to have grown a bit longer and wider. Upfront, the all-new SUV features a wider grille which is quite noticeable. The upcoming BMW X1 will get double-barrel LED headlamps with integrated L-shaped LED DRLs. The rear profile of the SUV gets wide two-part taillamps, a sporty looking spoiler with integrated stop lamp, and small rear windscreen.

The next-gen BMW X1 will receive its styling cues from the X5 and X7

The exhaust pipe is hidden and is not visible from the back. The upcoming model will also feature a new set of two-tone Y-shaped alloy wheels. Inside, the new-gen BMW X1 will get slim metal-finished vents, latest iDrive infotainment system, auxiliary screen for the climate control, a new fully-digital instrument console and much more. The details of engine and transmission to be offered with the new model are not known yet but is expected to be propelled by BMW’s entry-level power plant options. The all-new model is also expected to get hybrid and plug-in hybrid options. However, BMW is expected to bet big on the 2.0-litre petrol and diesel powertrains as these same engine options are offered on the outgoing BMW 3 series.

The current-gen India-spec BMW X1 is powered by a 2.0-litre four-pot TwinPower Turbo gasoline engine, which puts out 189 bhp of peak power and 280 Nm of peak torque. The engine comes paired with a 7-speed automatic gearbox. The SUV can also be had with a 2.0-litre four-cylinder TwinPower Turbo diesel engine, which churns out power and torque outputs of 188bhp and 400 Nm, respectively. Transmission duties on this oil-burner are performed by an 8-speed automatic gearbox. The entry-level BMW SUV is priced between Rs 35.9 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) to Rs 42.9lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
