New-Gen Honda Jazz To Get Hybrid Powertrain

In Europe, the Japanese auto manufacturer’s ‘Electric Vision’ includes electrifying all of its models by 2025. Noteworthily, the Honda CR-V is the only hybrid model on sale in Europe currently. Now, Tom Gardner, Senior Vice President of Honda Motor Europe has confirmed that the new-gen Jazz will be introduced to the European market with an i-MMD dual-engine hybrid system by 2020.

This system has been used in the CR-V with a 2-litre gasoline motor and two electric units. Nevertheless, the Honda Jazz is likely to be powered by a smaller 1.5-litre 4-cylinder iV-TEC gasoline burner which is paired with a CVT automatic gearbox and combined with an electric motor. This hybrid system is expected to deliver more decent fuel mileage than its ICE counterpart. The upcoming Honda Jazz will be underpinned by an upgraded platform and will come with an electric variant in its lineup.

The 2020 Honda Jazz is likely to be powered by an i-MMD dual-engine hybrid system.

Honda power charger comes with 7.4 KW single-phase and 22 kW three-phase battery packages. A Power Manager Prototype which connects EVs to a smart power grid which can distribute electricity between the vehicle and the grid has been introduced. Moreover, Honda has also announced a new cooperation with Ubitricity.

The Honda Jazz in India or Honda Fit in the international auto market is currently available in its third generation and is entering its fourth generation in 2020.
