New-Gen Hyundai Creta Registers Amazing Growth of 75 per cent Last Month

Hyundai Creta is the top-selling compact SUV in its segment in July 2020. It rivals with the likes of Kia Seltos and Nissan Kicks.

The Korean automaker Hyundai introduced the new-gen Creta in India in March this year and was first showcased early this year at the 2020 Auto Expo. The first-gen model of the SUV was introduced in our market back in 2015. The first-gen Creta was the best-selling SUV in its segment, but the launch of Kia Seltos last year has turned the table around. But, as soon as the new-gen model introduced in our market, the Hyundai Creta again became the top-selling SUV in its segment in May 2020.

Last month, the automaker registered 38,200 units as against 39,010 units with a YoY de-growth of just 2 per cent and most of the Hyundai’s models has recorded a positive sales growth except for Santro, Elantra and Elite i20. The new-gen Hyundai Creta has registered the highest YoY volume increase last month as the automaker sold 11,549 units of the SUV as against 6,582 units with 75% growth. It's direct rival Kia Seltos has managed to retail only 8,270 units in July 2020. The carmaker has recently announced that the all-new Creta has reached a new milestone of more than of 55,000 bookings and around 40,000 units have already been delivered in the past four months.

The new-gen Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos share a lot of commonalities like mechanical and feature list. The SUV derives power from a 1.5-litre petrol and diesel engine. The former puts out power and torque outputs of 115 PS and 144 Nm, while the latter develops 115 PS and 250 Nm of twisting force. The SUV also gets propelled by a smaller 1.4-litre turbocharged petrol motor that produces 140 PS of peak power and 242 Nm of peak torque. The engines are offered with both manual and automatic transmission options. It comes loaded with features like a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and Hyundai BlueLink compatibility, wireless charging pad, automatic climate control and much more. It rivals with the likes of Kia Seltos and Nissan Kicks.
