New-gen Hyundai Elite i20 Mileage Revealed as Germany Launch Nears

Take a look at the mileage figures of the new-gen Hyundai Elite i20 here. It is expected to go on sale in India by festive season this year.

Hyundai Elite i20 is one of the best-looking hatchbacks that are currently on sale in the country. By festive season this year, South-Korean carmaker will be launching the new-gen model of the Elite i20. However, it has already started reaching dealerships in Germany. It will be offered with two petrol engines in the German market – 1.2L Kappa petrol and 1.0L turbo-petrol. The latter will be offered in two states of tunes. In the lower one, it will belt out a peak power output of 100 PS, while in the higher state of tune, the motor will push out a max power output of 120 PS. The 1.2L Kappa petrol motor, on the other hand, will dish out a peak power output of 84 PS. Also, the buyers will get the option to opt for a 48V mild-hybrid system with all the engine options.

Talking of the gearbox, the new-gen i20 will have four of them on offer – 5-speed MT, 6-speed MT, 6-speed iMT, and 7-speed DCT. Also, the fuel consumption for the different engine-gearbox combinations has been revealed. The new-gen i20 with 1.2L Kappa motor and 5-speed gearbox boasts of a claimed mileage of 18.86 kmpl. With the 1.0L turbo-petrol engine in the lower state of tune (100 PS), it returns a fuel efficiency figure of 20.4 kmpl when coupled to a 6-speed MT.

However, with the iMT and 7-speed DCT, it returns a claimed mileage of 22.72 kmpl and 21.27 kmpl, respectively. The new-gen i20 with the 1.0L turbo-petrol motor in the higher state of tune (120 PS), delivers a fuel efficiency figure of 22.72 kmpl when mated to a 6-speed iMT. However, with the 7-speed DCT in place, the mileage drops down to 21.27 kmpl.

In the German market, the new-gen i20 will be sold in a total of five trim options, namely Pure, Select, Trend, Intro, and Prime. The prices start from 13,637 Euro (Rs. 11.76 lakh) and go all the way up to 23,970 Euro (Rs. 20.68 lakh). In India, the prices are likely to range in between Rs. 6 lakh to Rs. 9 lakh. Once launched, the new-gen i20 will continue to rival the likes of Tata Altroz, Maruti Baleno, and VW Polo, like the outgoing model.
