Nissan has been busy with the development of the next-gen Dayz. The all-new model has recently been spotted testing on the Bangkok roads as part of its international testing process.

The Nissan Dayz, a combination between a hatchback and a van, was launched in March 2013, borrowing mechanical specifications from the Mitsubishi eK. Almost six years later, a fully-altered version is being developed, exclusively for the Japanese auto market. The heavily camouflaged test mule did not reveal much about the detailed changes but did indicate that the updated model is more polishing and more muscular.

In the front, the Nissan Dayz comes with the typical V-motion grille and familiar swept-back boomerang headlamps. On the side profile, the car features a far more fashionable greenhouse with the kick in the rear beltline and a newly-designed rear window. In the rear, new vertical taillights and a masculine roof spoiler also contribute to the attraction of the vehicle.

The existing Nissan Dayz is on sale with two trims: standard and Highway Star with a more prominent front, sportier rims, a bolder roof spoiler and a unique rear bumper. The new model is expected to maintain the same variants as the current one. Accordingly, the spied test mule must be a Nissan Dayz Highway Star.

Like the current model, the new-gen Nissan Dayz will be available in two variants: standard and Highway Star

Disappointingly, the specifications of the new Nissan Dayz have not been revealed yet. The current gen measures 3,395 mm in length; 1,475 mm in width and 1,620 mm in height; its wheelbase measures 2,430 mm long. It is powered by a 3B20 0.66L 3-cylinder petrol motor in two versions: a naturally aspirated unit and a turbocharged one. While the former delivers a maximum power of 49 PS and a peak torque of 59 Nm, the latter is good for 64 PS against 98 Nm. The transmission duties are undertaken by an XTronic continuously variable transmission.
