A production-spec unit of the new Hyundai Creta 2020 wearing TC plates has been spotted in Chennai, thereby revealing that the dealerships would have started receiving test drive units

The wait is about to get over. The highly anticipated new Hyundai Creta has started rolling off the production line and its looks like the dealerships have started receiving the first batch of vehicles and test drive units. Recently, a completely undisguied unit of a 'Red Mulberry' Hyundai Creta was spotted in Chennai by Sumit Suvarna. From the looks of it, the car that has been seen in a test drive unit, which means dealerships across the country will soon start stocking display and demo units. For the uninitiated, the second-gen Creta debuted at Auto Expo 2020 on February 6 and will launch on March 17.

Design highlights of the new model include a 3D cascading grille, multi-level LED headlights with stylish boomerang-shaped LED DRLs, cascading grille, machined alloy wheels, chrome-plated door handles, body-coloured side mirrors with integrated side indicators, blacked-out B-pillars and contrasting trim near the C-Pillar. The rear of the vehicle gets stylish LED taillamps, faux skid plate, roof-mounted spoiler, rear wiper, and bold "CRETA" branding on the tailgate.

The cabin of the new-gen SUV is yet to be revealed but on close inspection of the display car at the Auto Expo 2020, we could figure out that it gets a large-screen infotainment system that is different from the portrait-style unit available on the China-spec SUV. Other features that the car will offer will include panoramic sunroof, multifunction steering wheel, automatic climate control, air purifier, electrically adjustable seats, and ambient lighting. Other than this, the SUV will also offer the latest generation of the BlueLink connected apps suite.

The new Hyundai Creta will be sold with three engine options, all of which will be shared with the Kia Seltos. The base petrol motor will be a 1.5-litre naturally-aspirated unit that will output 115hp and 145Nm. The diesel unit will be a 1.5-litre turbocharged unit that will offer 115hp and 242Nm, while the most powerful option will be that of a 1.4-litre turbocharged petrol unit that will offer 140hp and 242Nm. The base petrol engine will be available with 6-speed manual and CVT options, while the diesel engine will be sold with both 6-speed manual and 6-speed automtic units. The 1.4-litre motor will be avaialble exclusively with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.
