New Hyundai i20 to Launch Tomorrow, Will Take on Maruti Baleno and Tata Altroz

Hyundai Motor India Ltd is all set to launch the third-generation Hyundai i20. Bookings will be available at Rs 21,000 and the new model will go on to rival the Maruti Baleno and Tata Altroz

2020 Hyundai i20 is scheduled to launch in Indian market tomorrow. Bookings for the new-gen i20 have been underway for a token amount of Rs 21,000. Those interested can pre-order the new-gen i20 via Hyundai’s website or at Hyundai dealerships.

Ahead of the launch, Hyundai India has revealed some essential details of the new model. The upcoming new Hyundai i20 will be sold in four trims, Magna, Sportz, Asta and Asta (O). The new-gen model will come with a comprehensively revised exterior which is inspired by Sensuous Sportiness, Hyundai’s latest global design philosophy. The similar styling inspiration is also seen on other Hyundai vehicles like Hyundai Tucson and Hyundai Elantra.

In terms of exterior, the India-spec Hyundai i20 is almost identical to the global version with a large hexagonal front grille, sharp triangle front light housings, and projector headlights with LED DRLS and LED turn indicators. On the rear end, the premium hatchback features Z-shaped LED taillights and a sleek chrome strip on the boot lid. It is confirmed that Hyundai will offer 8 colour options for the Hyundai i20, including 6 monotone and 2 dual-tone.

Hyundai i20 is set to launch tomorrow 

Similar to the exterior, the interior of the Hyundai i20 also undergoes an extensive makeover. The cabin gets a new dual-tone black-coffee brown scheme and a redesigned dashboard. On the central console sits a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system which is compatible with both Android Auto and Apple Carplay. Hyundai i20 also steps up the game by providing smart features like Voice control, navigation, Bluelink connectivity suite. Other highlight features of the Hyundai i20 include a 4-spoke steering wheel, anti-virus air purifier, Bose premium sound system, wireless charging, sunroof, automatic AC, cruise control, and much more.

There are various powertrain options for the new Hyundai i20, including two petrol and one diesel. On the low-end variant, Hyundai i20 is powered by a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine that makes 82bhp and 114Nm. There is also a more powerful 1.0-litre 3-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine with 118bhp and 175Nm. The petrol Hyundai i20 variants get three gearbox options, a 6-speed manual, a 6-speed iMT, and a 7-speed DCT. The only diesel engine is a 1.5-litre four-cylinder engine that also powers the Hyundai Venue. This engine is capable of making 99 Bhp and 240 Nm. It is offered with a 6-speed manual and 6-speed torque convertor automatic only.
