Here’s the variant-wise engine option to be offered with the upcoming new-gen Hyundai i20.

The launch of all-new Hyundai i20 is just around the corner, and the carmaker has already revealed most of the details about their upcoming premium hatchback. Many of you may know the engine and gearbox options to be offered with the car. The upcoming Hyundai i20 will be retailed in four different trim levels namely- Magna, Sportz, Asta and Asta(O). Recently, the carmaker has revealed the trim lineup with engine options to be offered with each variant. With a wide range of engine and transmission options, the upcoming Hyundai i20 will be offered in 24 different versions.

The all-new premium hatchback will continue to derive power from the 1.2-litre, four-pot, gasoline mill. This petrol engine is already BS6 compliant and is currently offered with the ongoing model of the car. Apart from that, the premium hatchback will also receive two completely new engine options. The new-gen i20 will also get a 1.5-litre diesel engine. The older 1.4-litre diesel unit got discontinued because it was not updated as per the new emission norms. This 1.5-litre oil burner does duties in Hyundai Venue, Verna, Creta and Kia Seltos. The all-new premium hatchback will also get a more potent 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine. Both the petrol engines will be offered manual and automatic transmission options, while the diesel trim of the car will only be offered with a manual gearbox.

The base trims of Hyundai i20 will be retailed with 1.2-litre petrol and 1.5-litre diesel engines, but can only be offered with MT. From Sportz trim, one can get the option of three powertrains and a buyer can also opt for the CVT with the  1.2-litre petrol engine. Moreover, the 1.0-litre turbo petrol trim of the hatchback will be offered with an iMT transmission. The DCT gearbox will only be offered with the top-spec trims of the upcoming new-gen i20. The car is expected to hit the Indian shores on 5th November 2020 and is likely to be priced between Rs 5.5 lakh to Rs 9.5 lakh (ex-showroom).
