All-new Land Rover Defender Launched, Prices Start at Rs 73.98 Lakh

All-new Land Rover Defender has been launched in India at a starting price of Rs 73.98 lakh (ex-showroom). The premium SUV is available with a host of up-market features and a powerful drivetrain

Land Rover has been offering several options of premium and luxury SUVs in our market. Recently, the British car manufacturer has launched the latest Land Rover Defender in India. Land Rover is touted as “the toughest Land Rover ever made”. Upon its arrival, the Land Rover Defender is priced from Rs 73.98 lakh (ex-showroom) for the Defender 90 while the Defender 110 HSE costs Rs 90.46 lakh.

The delivery of the Defender 90 has commenced while Defender 90’s delivery will start in the first quarter of 2021. Land Rover Defender enters the Indian market as CBUs. The new model recently embarked at Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust, Mumbai.

Known for its excellent off-road capabilities, the Land Rover Defender is fully-armed when it comes to off-road assist functions and techs. To start with, the Defender is built on the D7X platform which is claimed to be the stiffest chassis ever. The SUV offers a maximum payload of 900 kilos and wading depth of 900 mm. Other important off-road specs of Defender include an approach angle of 38 degrees, departure angle of 40 degrees and break-over of 28 degrees. To booster the performance, the Defender features an updated Terrain, Adaptive Dynamics and electronic air suspension. In addition, the premium SUV also comes with 360-degree surround camera, wade sensing, smartphone pack, connected navigation pro, and off-road tyres,

Apart from the outstanding off-road performance, the Land Rover Defender also puts a strong emphasis on delivering a top-notch level of comfort and convenience. On the inside, Land Rover features a 10-inch touchscreen, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster along with a heads-up display for the top-of-the-line First Edition. Other highlights of the Defender interior includes Meridian audio system, electrically adjustable and heated front seats, connectivity technologies, and more.

Land Rover Defender is available in two versions, three-door and five-door configuration

Initially, the Land Rover Defender will be offered with a 2.0-litre petrol engine which is capable of making 292 bhp of top power and 400 Nm of maximum torque. It is mated to a ZF eight-speed automatic gearbox. A 3.0-litre hybrid engine might go on sale later.

Apart from the stock features, Land Rover also provides a wide range of additional accessories of over 170 options. The company also retails these accessories in different sets, including Explorer Pack, Adventure Pack, Country Pack, and Urban Pack. The new Land Rover Defender will be offered in five trims, Base, S, SE HSE, and First Edition. There are two configurations available for customers to choose, a three-door version and a five-door long-wheelbase model.
