New Mahindra Thar SOLD OUT For Next 6 Months

The all-new Mahindra Thar was launched on October 2, this year. The new-gen iteration of the off-roader has attracted a huge demand from Indian customers. In just a month from its launch, the new Mahindra Thar has managed to garner over 20,000 bookings. Given the current production capacity of the carmaker, Mahindra Thar has been announced sold out until May 2021. The waiting period of the Mahindra Thar at this moment is stonkingly high at 5-7 months.

2020 Mahindra Thar is in high demand in India 

As to resolve the lack of supply, Mahindra has committed to expanding the monthly production capacity to 3,000 units from the beginning of 2021. Dr. Pawan Goenka, Managing Director of Mahindra and Mahindra revealed that the car manufacturer has already increased the capacity by 150% compared to the original plan to meet the overwhelming demand.

The all-new Mahindra Thar has quickly gained recognition in the Indian market, thanks to its significantly-refined interior comfort and convenience with plenty of new features. The new-gen model has gone a long way to fulfil the needs of both offroad enthusiasts and regular car buyers.

Lately, the Thar has received good news from Global NCAP, as it has scored a four-star overall crash test rating at the Global NCAP crash test. The scores for the adult and child occupant safety are four stars. According to the test report, the Mahindra Thar provided sufficient protection for the heads and necks of the driver and passenger. It is noted that the protection for passenger’s chest was good while the driver chest protection is rated as adequate. As for child protection, Mahindra Thar gave full protection for the 18 month-old occupants while the 3-year-old passengers were given good protection from excessive forward movement.

Mahindra Thar receive a four-star rating at the Global NCAP crash test 

In terms of safety features, the Mahindra Thar has evolved from a rudimentary off-roader a feature-packed one. It comes with features like dual airbags, front seat belt pre-tensioner, seat belt reminder, ABS (anti-lock braking system) and ISOFIX child seat mount, and rear parking sensors. Mahindra Thar is available in three trims, AX, AX (O) and LX. It is reported that the top-spec LX variants are in high demand. On the entry-level trim, the company has already removed the AX variants with side-facing bench seats. The price of the Mahindra Thar now begins at Rs 9.80 lakh and goes up to Rs 13.75 lakh.
