Maruti Suzuki is working over to introduce a brand-new 800cc entry-level model that might come as a replacement of the Alto.

Earlier this year, we informed you that Maruti Suzuki is working over a range of new products for the Indian auto market. Interestingly, what we know is that the country’s largest carmaker is working on an all-new 800cc entry-level hatcback that is set to be unveiled in 2021.

Sources suggest that the upcoming 800cc entry-level model by Maruti Suzuki will come to replace the existing Alto hatchback. The latter has been around the market since 2012. Maruti's new 800cc entry-level car is likely to be built on Suzuki’s HEARTECT-K platform that also underpins the outgoing S-Presso. That being said, it will draw power from a BS6-compliant 800cc motor that will likely be churning out 47 BHP of peak power and 69 Nm of max torque. Expect the car to be offered with both manual and AMT versions.
