The Maruti Suzuki Ertiga sees the waiting period increasing drastically to up to 8 months for some variants

The all-new Maruti Ertiga, which was launched in November 2018, has hit it big among buyers in the domestic space. As per some recent reports, the 2018 Maruti Suzuki Ertiga now commands a waiting period of up to 8 months. The 2018 Ertiga has been on sale in a price range of INR 7.44 Lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). Apparently, the all-new MPV has received such an overwhelming response after its launch that the waiting process has increased so as to balance the supply-demand chain. It is reported that car buyers now will have to take about 24 to 32 weeks of waiting so that they can get a new Ertiga delivered to their garages.

The 2018 Maruti Ertiga has been the top-selling car in the MPV sale chart

The all-new Maruti Ertiga is an excellent MPV on the Japanese-owned carmaker’s lineup. It has been developed on the latest HEARTECT platform that is similar to the Maruti Swift, Baleno or Dzire siblings. The big new MPV thereby attains a stronger but lighter body structure as compared to the previous models that it takes on. Now that the sharp increase in the dimension leading to the overall length, width and height of 4395 mm, 1735 mm and 1690 mm, respectively, the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga comes to offer a practically and usably generous cabin layout with 209 litres of boot space. With over 23,000 booking units recorded in December 2018 and 6,300 units sold in January 2019 only, the Maruti Ertiga is apparently among the crowd favourite for the family movers segment.

Under the hood, the 2018 Ertiga MPV gets both petrol and diesel engine options- a new in-house developed 1.5-litre petrol engine outputting 104 bhp of power at 6,000 rpm and 138 Nm of torque at 4,400 rpm along with a 1.3-litre Multijet diesel motor generating 89 bhp at 4,000 rpm and 200 Nm at 1,750 rpm. Also, the Maruti MPV offering gets an SHVS mild hybrid technology in its heart which contributes largely to the car’s total fuel efficiency. The transmission options of the all-new model include a 5-speed manual gearbox available with both gasoline and oil burners while an automatic converter is exclusive to the petrol version only.

The competition of the Maruti Ertiga is quite peaceful in India. The Maruti MPV gets fierce competition with the likes of Mahindra Marazzo and Toyota Innova Crysta in the market. With the very attractive prices range of around Rs 7.44 Lakh to Rs 10.90 Lakh (ex-showroom) for its variants, the Maruti Ertiga now continues to see the drastic increase on the demands and becomes a popular MPV offering.

Apart from the already-launched Ertiga, Maruti Suzuki is also in the works to introduce a six-seater MPV based on the Ertiga sibling. The upcoming premium MPV will get on sale in India at a later stage and available with a different name tag.
