New Maruti S-Cross Petrol Records Over 2,500 Bookings

Maruti S-Cross petrol was launched earlier this month at a starting price of INR 8.4 lakh (ex-showroom). So far, the crossover has recorded over 2,500 booking orders.

Launched earlier this month, the BS6 Maruti S-Cross has recorded over 2,500 bookings, which are decent numbers, given the current competitive segment. The BS6 S-Cross had been slated for launch much ealier; nevertheless, the plans was delayed due to the Covid-19 lockdown. The S-Cross is sold through Maruti Suzuki’s Nexa showroom and is the first upgraded product in Nexa range to be launched after the lockdown.

One of the most outstanding alterations in the BS6 S-Cross is the 1.5-litre K15B mild-hybrid gasoline burner, which is also used as the power source for the Maruti Ertiga, Vitara Brezza, Ciaz and XL6. This is the first time the S-Cross has ever been powered by a petrol engine. This engine can generate 105 HP against 138 Nm and is mated to a 5-speed MT/4-speed AT.

The BS6 Maruti S-Cross does not come with any major styling alterations. The list of features include a vertical chrome grille, crystalline LED projector headlights with DRLs, LED rear taillights and machine alloy rims. As regards the interior, the SUV is equipped with new Smartplay Studio touchscreen infotainment system which supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, a MID, an adjustable steering wheel, start/stop push button, auto climate control and anti-pinch auto up/down windows. In the safety front, the BS6 Maruti S-Cross is packed with dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, reverse parking sensor and camera, brake assist, hill holder, high-speed warning alert, engine immobilizer, etc.

This is the first time that the Maruti S-Cross has received a petrol motor.

The new Maruti S-Cross is priced from INR 8.4 lakh to INR 11.15 lakh. Automatic variants are offered in the range from INR 10.83 lakh to INR 12.39 lakh. The S-Cross competes against the Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos, which are currently the top-selling cars in the segment. As regards the features, the S-Cross pales in comparison with these rivals but is given a clear benefit in terms of the decent fuel mileage and aggressive pricing.
