New Maruti Wagon R’s Bookings Surpass The 12,000 Mark

The 2019 Maruti Wagon R was recently launched in India in a price range of Rs 4.19 lakh to Rs 5.69 lakh (ex-showroom, New Delhi). However, the bookings for the vehicle had started earlier this month. At its launch, the company revealed that it has received more than 12,000 bookings for the vehicle. You may be even more surprised by the fact that the majority of the buyers have already booked the car before it was fully disclosed. It is expected that the number will be even higher in the coming time.

The bookings for the 2019 Maruti Wagon R has exceeded the 12,000 mark

After almost a two-decade presence in India, Maruti Wagon R still manages to be one of the most popular hatchbacks among the Indian auto buyers with more than 2.2 million units sold till now. Being the third-gen model, the recently launched Wagon R is underpinned by a more modern platform, which comes in the form of the 5th generation Heartect architecture. 

In terms of the dimensions, the 2019 Maruti Wagon R now measures greater in length and width by 60 mm and 145 mm, respectively with a 35 mm longer wheelbase in comparison with the outgoing model. The 2019 Maruti Wagon R is also better-equipped with square ‘dual-split’ headlamps, a rectangular grille, new floating roof, ORVMs integrated with turn indicators and high-positioned taillights in the outside. In terms of the interior, it is also replete with a list of top-notch features which include a 7.0’’ a SmartPlay Studio touchscreen infotainment unit with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, day/night IRVM and rear 60:40 split seats. The new Maruti Wagon R is powered by the unchanged 1.0L petrol engine from the outgoing model and an optional new 1.2L K-Series petrol engine. While the former can produce 67 bhp against 90 Nm, the latter is good for 84 bhp against 113 Nm. The transmission duties on both of the engines are undertaken by a 5-speed MT gearbox and an optional 5-speed AMT.

The new-gen Maruti Wagon R comes with a new 1.2L petrol motor

The new Wagon R is currently available in seven spec trims and is sold by the Arena chain of dealerships of Maruti Suzuki.
