New MG Hector Facelift Spied Testing - Tata Harrier Automatic Effect?

Chinese automaker MG entered our market last year with the launch of the Hector. The SUV got an amazing response from the Indian buyers. Recently, the upcoming facelifted model of the SUV was spotted near the company’s Halol production facility in Vadodara. The recently spotted MG Hector employs a new grille up front and larger, two-tone 17-inch alloy wheels. Right now, it’s not confirmed whether it’s the actual facelifted model or merely the diesel automatic trim of the car. Currently, MG Hector is offered in five diesel manual, two petrol manual, three petrol automatic (DCT) and four petrol hybrid trims.

If launched, the new MG Hector diesel AT will directly rival against the likes of Tata Harrier. The Tata SUV is powered by a 2.0-litre Kryotec diesel unit, which is capable of shredding out 168bhp of power and the engine comes mated to a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox. The new MG Hector diesel automatic is expected to be offered in top-spec Smart and Sharp variants.

The upcoming MG Hector diesel automatic is expected to be Rs 1 lakh pricier than the manual variant. Right now, the diesel manual Smart and Sharp variants are offered at Rs 16.49 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) and 17.88 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). Moreover, the Sharp diesel dual-tone trim retails at Rs 18.08 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The automaker has yet to reveal the launch date and details of the MG Hector diesel automatic trim. The diesel model of the SUV is powered by a 2.0-litre mill, which churns out 170bhp and 350 Nm of twisting force.

It also derives power from a 1.5-litre turbocharged gasoline engine that produces 143bhp of peak power and 250 Nm of peak torque. Both the engines come mated to a 6-speed MT as standard. The 6-speed DCT gearbox is only exclusively offered with the turbo petrol variant. The SUV is offered at a starting price of Rs 12.84 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) for the entry-level Style trim and goes all the way up to Rs 18.09 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi for the top-spec Sharp variant.
