Earlier this year, the new SUV has already previewed in terms of concept form as the Skoda Vision X SUV concept. The model will be positioned right below the Skoda Kodiaq and the Karoq in the global production line-up of Skoda.
The Skoda Vision X-based SUV will share the same styling cues with others in the same line-up but with a tone down the overall look. As for the platform, Skoda will be underpinned with the Volkswagen T-Cross which is claimed to unveil globally on this October 25, 2018. This platform derives from the innovative MQB A0 architecture seen on the Euro-spec model.

As sharing the similar cues with the Volkswagen counterpart, the Skoda SUV is also likely to be available in two dimension options. In which, one option offers a 2,645mm wheelbase while the other one, which is the slightly longer version for the markets as India and China will be delivered with a wheelbase of 2,651mm. This design aims at liberating more legroom, especially for the second-row passengers.

In the effort to penetrate more into the Indian market with the India 2.0 strategy, the automaker plans on bringing this SUV in the country in 2020. Accordingly, the car will witness a severe competition, in which, it will be pitted against the likes of the Tata Harrier, Nissan Kicks, Hyundai Creta and Renault Captur in the SUV segment. This also pushes the car maker to update the model with more premium interiors, feature list and space for the cargo and the rear passengers as well.
