The second-gen Jeep Renegade will be unveiled in 2021. It is bound to arrive in India and lock horns with the likes of Kia Seltos and Hyundai Creta

Jeep has always been a respected car brand in India. Its capable go-anywhere off-roaders have gained good traction among the Indian car freaks but one can’t deny that Jeep is often sitting on the steeper side of the price range. The Indian car buyers have been eagerly waiting for the Jeep Renegade SUV ever since it was slated to come to us in 2019. Though it was a bit let-down that current-gen Renegade has been confirmed not to come to India, reports say that the American SUV maker is considering the second-gen Renegade for our market sooner or later. Jeep is yet to make any official confirmation until now but the arrival of the new Renegade is highly expected.

In all likelihood, the new-gen Jeep Renegade will be equipped with the de-tuned versions of 1.3-litre turbo-petrol engine and 2.0-litre diesel burner and power will be channeled to the wheels via a 6-speed MT and a 7-speed DCT unit. The Renegade will also be the only car in its segment to offer a AWD system.

Upon its market launch, the Renegade will be competing directly with the likes of Kia Seltos, Hyundai Creta or Renault Duster in the domestic competition. The premium SUV might be positioned at somewhere between Rs 12 – 18 Lakh (estimated, ex-showroom) so it will fill the gap between the Compass and Jeep’s upcoming sub-4m SUV. For your information, Jeep is also readying two new models for the Indian market including a Fiat Panda’s 4x4 platform-based sub-four-metre SUV and a new 7-seater SUV codenamed Low-D which is expected to see its launch in 2021.
