For some who are waiting for the launch of the new-gen Mahindra XUV500, we’ve just got the latest set of spy shots of the same, revealing that 2021 Mahindra XUV500 is closer to its production.

We all know that Mahindra & Mahindra has been working on the next-generation XUV500 for months now and a couple of spy images of the XUV500 test mule was previously surfaced on the Interweb. Recently, the latest spy shots of the 2021 Mahindra XUV500 on its running trials has once again emerged on the Internet, revealing that the new Mahindra car is closer to its production than ever.

So far, it is widely known that the second-gen Mahindra XUV500 will look quite different from the existing model. That’s a good thing, given the fact that the first-gen model has been around since 2011. The latest spy pics show that the upcoming Mahindra XUV500 will look more mature than the existing car and will come with a new radiator front grille with vertical slats, refreshed front bumper, a new design for the door handles along with new design alloy wheels. Based on the tweaked platform, the new Mahindra XUV500 might be slightly longer than its preceding model.

Mahindra will ditch the existing interior layout of the XUV500 for a more neatly laid-out unit. Through a sneak-peek into the interior of a camouflaged XUV500 spotted in Tamil Nadu, we get a fair idea of how’s it like on the inside. Interestingly, the 2021 Mahindra XUV500 interior will get inspired by Mercedes, bringing in a hitherto unseen-in-this-class single-unit central display that serves as both a touchscreen infotainment system and an instrument console panel.

Also, the higher-spec variants of the new Mahindra XUV500 will see the touchscreen digital instrumentation being configurable. It will likely come with many modern connected features to keep pace with the current competition along with some other funky fitments like wireless charging. We also expect the new XUV500 to offer a more flexible seating configuration. That said, reports suggested that the second-gen Mahindra XUV500 will stand at a few notches above the market and put up a serious fight against the feature-laded MG Hector Plus.

As for the engine details, the all-new Mahindra XUV500 will sport a big change in the powertrains. It is slated to come with a 2.0-litre diesel motor developing about 190 HP of max power along with a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine sourced from the Stallion family, the same also caters to the new Mahindra Thar. For the XUV500, though, we expect it deliver a bit more power. Both manual and automatic gearbox options will be given on the new XUV500 and we can believe that the higher-spec trims will come with an AWD drivetrain system. The launch timeline of the new Mahindra XUV500 is for the first half of 2021. Apart from the MG Hector Plus, the 2021 Mahindra XUV500 will take on the upcoming Tata Gravitas or Hyundai Creta 7-Seater.
