Next-Gen Toyota Corolla Releases Teaser Ahead Of Debut

The Chinese version of the Toyota Corolla is due to be displayed at the Guangzhou International Motor Show on November 16. The US debut will be on the same day with China unveiling event. The China-bound Corolla will give us some hints on what the international version and the India-spec will look like. Toyota has dropped the teaser of the 12^th-gen Corolla ahead its debut.

Firstly, it is worth to know that the Corolla is built on the TNGA platform which is deployed on the new Camry or the hatchback version of the Corolla. Accordingly, the Corolla is getting bigger in size while the weight is reduced.

On the aesthetics front, the Corolla will be inspired by Toyota’s Under Priority Catamaran design philosophy, along with the “Keen Look” style. Both the sedan and the hatchback will share many common design features. On the front, Corolla gets a chunky and aggressive grille with dual-beam LED headlamps, just like the hatchback design. One thing differing the two is the bumper design. The Corolla gets a more swooping roofline than the recent model, giving the impression of a coupe. Inside the car, the Corolla interior is identical to the hatchback version with large floating touchscreen and a simplistic style.

The Corolla hatchback pulls power from the new 2.0-litre Dynamic Force which is able to unleash 168BHP and 205 Nm of torque. This unit is more powerful the existing engine - 1.8-litre petrol engine. And it is expected to be featured on the sedan version too. The transmission comes into two options, a direct shift CVT (or Dynamic-Shift CVT) or a six-speed Intelligent Manual Transmission (iMT). It is also said that Corolla will come with plug-in hybrid technology at its launch.
