Recently, a test mule of the next generation Ford Endeavour has been spied testing in China for the first time ever

The current-gen Ford Endeavour, which is on sale under the name Ford Everest in some countries, has been available since 2015 and underwent a facelift in 2019. Given that it is high time for a new-gen model to be introduced, Ford has already started developing the new generation model, which was recently spotted testing in China.

The test mule unveils some important information about the new Ford Endeavour.

Despite being heavily camouflaged, the test mule has revealed important information about the new-gen model. The unpainted radiator grille comes with an interesting pattern and the headlights are located quite low. The temporary taillight clusters are also another outstanding feature of the test mule. The car is expected to receive much more styling alterations when the production model is launched.

The SUV gets a new interior design with a new steering wheel but its 7-seating layout has been retained. Although the final version might not be equipped with the same interior features as those on the test mule, we can be quite sure that the SUV will sport a large-size touchscreen infotainment system, a multi-function steering wheel, a dial-type transmission mode selector, plush seats, etc. A configurable and digital colour instrument cluster could also be equipped on the new Endeavour.

While the interior of the current Endeavour is already quite plush, the cabin of the next-gen model will take things a step further in terms of ambiance and equipment.

The ladder frame platform is also expected to experience some improvements. The spy images reveal that the test mule comes with independent rear suspension. The current model uses a Watts linkage-based unit. The 2.0-litre twin-turbo oil burner is expected to be carried over from the current model along with the new 10-speed AT unit. In the current model, this motor can generate 170 HP against 420 Nm. The SUV is available with both a 2WD and a 4WD system. A hybrid powertrain technology is also being considered for the new Endeavour.

The new-gen Ford Endeavour will likely be offered with a suite of Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS). The India-bound version can be equipped with some of these features. The new SUV is slated for a launch in late 2021 or early 2022. For India, the SUV, in all likelihood, will be a CKD unit. The SUV will compete against the Toyota Fortuner, Isuzu MU-X and Skoda Kodiaq.
